Privacy Policy

At issociate Pty Limited (issociate), we recognise the importance of your privacy. We abide by the National Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988. Our policy for the management of personal information is set out in this document.

Collection of information

The process for you to become a user of the website www.issociate.com (Website) is as follows:

  • the association of which you are a member (Association) must successfully complete the application and registration process and agree to our Association Terms;
  • the Association must provide certain information about itself and its members, including you;
  • we will send you an activation request; and
  • you will need to consent to the activation request, agree to our User Terms and provide certain information in connection with the activation.

If you are a board member or committee member of the Association, we will collect information about you as part of the application and registration process for the Association.

If you are a board member, committee member or ordinary member of the Association, and you have given prior consent to the Association to pass on your information to third parties, we will collect information about you from the Association as part of the activation process. Where this consent has not been provided you will be sent an email from the Association requesting consent to allow us to collect your information. Members who have consented will be sent an activation request by the Association.

During the activation process, the information we collect about you may include your:

  • name;
  • email address;
  • member number; and
  • member type

We also collect other information about you where you consent to us doing so or through Association and user feedback or sent by email or otherwise provided to us.

If the Association does not agree to the Association Terms and provide the necessary information about you for us to complete the activation process, or you do not consent to an activation request and agree to the User Terms, we will not be able to provide you with access to the Website.

Online profile pages

An online profile page is a page within the Website that may be set up by you or the Association for the purpose of displaying biographical and other details of you or the Association such as the characteristics, attributes, values, skills, achievements and other information pertaining to you or the Association.

You are under no obligation to complete any of the details on your online profile page. If you do provide online profile information, the amount of profile information you share with other users is decided by you on a contact-by-contact basis.

As a user, you can choose to share your information in the following networks:

  • personal contacts;
  • business contacts;
  • acquaintances;
  • Association members;
  • Association affiliates;
  • other Website users; and
  • other web users.

Use and disclosure of information

The information we collect about you will be disclosed by issociate to the Association, the administrator of the Association sub-page on the Website and our suppliers such as the developer of the Website.

You consent to the use or disclosure of your information for such purposes as well as the following:

  • contacting you or the Association in connection with the activation process;
  • registering you as a user of the Website;
  • providing you with access to the Website;
  • undertaking any administration or development of the Website;
  • contacting you in connection with any survey conducted on the Website as chosen by you;
  • contacting you in relation to any feedback you have sent to us;
  • marketing, promoting or sending you information about issociate products and services, including by email and other forms of electronic messages;
  • including your information in any directories, networks or sub-pages listed on the Website, as chosen or consented to by you;
  • providing your information to other users where you consent to those other users receiving such information;
  • contacting you after the termination or expiry of the Association's subscription to the Website to determine whether you would like to become a personal user of the Website;
  • where the use or disclosure is permitted under the National Privacy Principles; and
  • where the use or disclosure is required or authorised by or under law.

Data quality and security

We will take reasonable steps to:

  • ensure that all personal information we collect, use or disclose is accurate, complete and up to date;
  • protect the personal information we hold from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure; and
  • destroy or permanently de-identify personal information if it is no longer needed for any purpose for which the information may be used or disclosed under this privacy policy.

Access and correction

If you wish to access the personal information which we hold about you or request its modification or removal from our records, please contact us. Our details are included in the final paragraph of this privacy policy.

Where we provide you with access to your personal information we may do so subject to the payment of a reasonable charge, as determined by us. If you demonstrate to us that the personal information we hold about you is not accurate, complete or up to date, we will take reasonable steps to correct the information so that it is accurate, complete and up to date.

If we refuse to provide you with access to or permit you to correct the personal information held about you by us, then we will provide reasons for such refusal.

What this privacy policy does not apply to

This privacy policy does not apply in respect of the following:

  • to any corporate information (unless it is also about any identifiable person); or
  • if you access another website through a link from the Website. In this case the privacy policy of the other website (if any) will apply.

Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time by posting the amended privacy policy on the Website.
